Maharashtra government has decided to give a monthly pension of ten thousand rupees to those who served imprisonment during emergency in the mid seventies imposed under then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The congress meanwhile has hit out at BJP and said that the BJP is equating freedom fighters with those who opposed emergency. The emergency was imposed in mid seventies for 21 months and during this time more than 1 lakh people were detained all across the country.
