'Avengers: Infinity War' Becomes Fourth Movie Ever to Pass $2 Billion The Marvel Studios blockbuster has reached another milestone at the box office and joins three other films to cross the $2 billion mark worldwide: 1997’s “Titanic” 2009’s “Avatar and 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Those three films were released in December, making ‘Infinity War’ the first film to make $2 billion globally outside of the holiday season. ‘Infinity War’ has broken multiple records since its release in late April, opening up to a record $640 million and reaching the $1 billion mark in 11 days. Disney is looking to double down on their success when the sequel, “Avengers 4,” opens on May 3, 2019.
