Locals carry home when owner wants to move 50 metres

This family literally "upped sticks" when they wanted to move house - they had dozens of local men CARRY their hut to a new spot.

Maricel Cabral, 30, asked for help for her brother, Mike, shift his home to the opposite side of a nearby mountain in Tayabas, Philippines, on June 8.

She arrived with dozens of other locals who hoisted it above their shoulders on poles and carried it 50 metres to the other side of the field.

The tradition of carrying a person's home to a new location is known as Bayanihan and it is believed to bring good luck by showing the healthy community spirit and neighbourly love.

Maricel said: ''I can't thank everybody enough for helping to carry my brother's house. I hope they'll be there next time he needs to move.''
