EU copyright law could change the internet as we know it

BRUSSELS —The European Union will on June 20 vote on a Copyright Directive that could effectively spell the end for memes and links as we know them.

If Europe goes ahead with the plans, everything from reaction GIFs, to fan fics and satire such as our own could be censored by by Europe's copyright Orwellian bots.

Word from Brussels is that they're planning a 'link-tax' law for websites linking to news publishers. Any site using a thumb, link and preview text to link to a news site will have to pay the publisher to do use the content.

EU lawmakers vote on the controversial directive next Wednesday.
