Colin Kaepernick's Lawyers Want Trump to Testify in Collusion Case Yahoo! Sports reported that Kaepernick’s lawyers Kaepernick’s legal teams wants to investigate if Trump’s ties with the league’s team owners have resulted in the former player’s unemployment. Since he opted for free agency after heading the national anthem kneeling protests in 2016, Kaepernick has not been signed by any teams. Kaepernick's’ team will have to prove that testimony from Trump and affiliated administration officials would have an important impact on the grievance. Last month, the NFL issued a mandate that all players must stand for the national anthem or be fined. Players who choose not stand to must retreat to the lockers rooms.
