Kaala is Rajinikanth's 164th movie directed by Pa. Ranjith. This movie stars Rajinikanth, Eeswari Rao, Huma Qureshi, Samudrakani and others in important roles. The movie has gone under a lot of controversies not only in Karnataka but also in TamilNadu. The movie finally got released today in Tamilnadu, karnataka, kerela, USA, UAE amd all over the world. The movie has gardened good reviews and good ratings. Kaala begins with an animated story-telling device similar to Bãhubali, wherein the importance of land and the suppression of the downtrodden by the power-hungry is shown. The film quickly shifts to the present day, in live-action multi-colour (with black being the prominent hue). We are shown evil politicians and land mafia hatching plans to destroy the slums of Dharavi to make it Digital Dharavi and Pure Mumbai (an obvious reference to some of the actual government schemes). Kaala isn’t a Rajinikanth film — it is a Pa Ranjith film starring actor Rajinikanth; not the superstar, mind you. Ranjith makes this absolutely clear right from the word go by giving Rajini his simplest introduction on celluloid after ages. Kaala is seen playing cricket with young kids in the slum. You might be expecting him to hit a six. It is a Rajini film after all. Instead, Kaala gets his middle stump knocked out. And there starts the story.

பாட்டாளி மக்களின் 'நிலம் எங்கள் உரிமை' கோரிக்கையை, உலகுக்கு உணர்வுப்பூர்வமாக உரக்க சொல்கிறது காலா. முதல் பாதி காதல், சென்டிமென்ட் ஆக்ஷன் என விறுவிறுப்பாக நகர்கிறது. ஆனால் இரண்டாம் பாதியின் நீளத்தை கொஞ்சம் குறைத்திருக்கலாம். அதுமட்டுமல்லாமல், வில்லன் கதாபாத்திரம் ஹீரோவைவிட செம வெயிட்டாக இருக்கிறது. அதை சமன் செய்திருந்தால், ரஜினி ரசிகர்களுக்கு பக்கா விருந்தாக இருந்திருக்கும். காலா சொல்ல வரும் செய்தி இந்த உலகுக்கு உரக்க சொல்லப்பட வேண்டும். அந்த வகையில் காலா, ரஜினி பாதி, ரஞ்சித் பாதி கலந்து செய்த கலவை.
