Mary Amoah lives in Accra, Ghana and has been trying for years to teach her 14 year old daughter to talk. Nana Yaa at the age of 3 started to behave in unexplained ways. Her mother initially thought that her daughter was possessed by evil spirits. Years later a friend told her that her daughter has autism. Mary's biggest dream for Nana Yaa is for “people around her to accept her.” Ghana does not recognize autism as a disability. Do you think the goverment should have programs to assist parents and children with autism? #VOATalkAutism #AutismAwarenessMonth
