Report: Gary Cohn Delayed Giving Trump Jobs Report Data

Politico reported on Monday, citing sources, that former White House economic adviser Gary Cohn made a practice of waiting until the last minute to give jobs report data to President Trump.  According to the publication, he apparently did so "because he was worried the president couldn't help but say something about them."  Based on Trump's Friday morning Twitter activity, it appears Cohn's concerns were well-founded.  Trump tweeted about an hour prior to the official release of the report, which he'd been briefed on Thursday, "Looking forward to seeing the employment numbers at 8:30 this morning." In doing so, he set off a flurry of financial market activity. Trump also seems to have veered very close to disregarding President Ronald Reagan's 1985 directive that the executive branch makes no comments on that information until one hour after its been made public, reports the Washington Post.  Politico states that Trump has "now created a scenario in which traders will be looking for Trump tweets each jobs Friday. Does no tweet mean a bad number is coming? He's inserted a new variable where none should exist."
