Hiking the Zion Narrows is a bucket list experience to be sure. Its considered one of the absolute best trails in the world and its a hike nearly anyone can enjoy.\r
\r
Hike the full 16 miles or just a few. Whatever youre up to. Heres what youll need to know before heading out:\r
\r
Plan on getting wet. The vast majority of the hike will be in the river. Wear closed toed shoes. Make sure to check the flow rate of the Virgin River before beginning your hike (info available at Zion National Park visitor center). Even on hot days the narrows can be quite cold. Be prepared. Check air and water temperatures before heading out.\r
\r
Start at the Temple of Sinawava (southern end) or Chamberlains Ranch (northern end - PERMIT REQUIRED). If you begin at the southern end you can hike 5 miles to Big Spring but you will require a permit to venture further. 10 miles out and back total.\r
\r
No toilets or trash receptacles anywhere along the trail. Pack out ALL of your waste. Please leave absolutely no trace.\r
