Tomica (トミカ) is the line of die-cast toy vehicles and related products produced by Takara Tomy Co. of Japan (formerly known as Tomiyama and Tomy Kogyo Incorporated) since 1970 (Rixon 2005, 99). These seem to have been a by-product of Tomica World, a separate line of motorized trains, vehicles and accessories that Tomy produced since 1959. Tomica World motorized trains and track systems, are based on Plarail (About Tomica new). Tomica focuses mainly, but not exclusively, on Japanese brands.\r
