How to make Wood Toy Car

Recently I though about start making small wooden toys. In this video Ill show you how to make a simple toy car. For the main body and the wheels I used scrap pieces of pine and beech (not recycled wood). The goal is to make a safe toy, durable, with a interesting look. Due Im using scrap materials, I use a 8mm metal rod for the wheel axis that I keep from a trash furniture instead of a beech rod which did not have in the shop. During the making process I learned some important things about making wooden toys for kids. One of them is to avoid although the small pieces because although they are well glued, can be dangerous if somehow break loose. So in the second version of this car I did not use the tiny slices of beech rod to cover the metal axis (instead, I avoided the full bore of the wheel, leaving the axis hidden). In this second version I neither use the metal washers. I stained the pine with a non toxic tint and for the finish I apply two coats of mineral oil. Next time Im thinking to combine different wood species to avoid applying tint and therefore to provide a more natural and authentic product. I think this videos show how easy is to make a toy for our kids with no more than some scrap pieces, which in my opinion are more suitable for the kids than most of the toys that we see nowadays. Recentment se mha acudit començar a fer algunes joguines de fusta. En aquest nou video us ensenyo com fer un cotxe de joguina. Pel cos i les rodes he utilitzat restes de pi que tenia pel taller (tot i que són fusta nova, no reciclada). Lobjectiu era fer una joguina segura, resistent i amb aparença atriva. Degut a que ha estat un projecte poc planificat i he hagut de treballar amb els materials que tenia al taller, pel fet de no poder disposar de varilles de 8mm de fusta pels eixos, he hagut dusar varilles dacer inoxidable, que daltra banda afegeixen resistència a la joguina. Durant el procés de creació he pogut aprendre algunes lliçons importants sobre les joguines infantils. Una delles és evitar a tota costa posibles peces petites, que tot i estar enganxades de manera segura, podrien despendres amb lús i ser per tant potencialment perilloses. Per aquest motiu, en la segona versió de la joguina no he usat ni les rondanxes de faig per tapar els eixos de metall (directament els he ocultat evitant atravessar del tot les rodes) ni les arandeles de metall que úen com a rodaments, reduïnt la fricció. Per lacabat he tenyit el cos del vehicle amb un tint natural i per acabar, he aplicat a tota la joguina oli mineral. Per futures joguines penso usar diferents especies de fusta per evitar el procés de tintat i per tant oferir un producte més natural i autèntic. Penso que aquest video mostra com de fácil és realitzar una joguina pels nostres fills que considero més adequada que moltes de les que avui dia trobem al mercat. Espero que aquest video us animi a realitzar objectes per la vostra gent. \r
