Boris Johnson outrages Sikhs who ban alcohol by talking about whisky in temple
  • 5 years ago
Foreign secretary Boris Johnson blundered again yesterday when he talked about whisky during a visit to a Sikh temple - a religion which bans alcohol.
The gaffe-prone Tory - whose wife is of Sikh descent - found himself in hot water when he went on the campaign trail in Bristol. He wore a ceremonial orange turban and joked he was pleased to have worn socks with no holes. But the mood turned sour when he addressed the congregation inside the Nirman Sewak Jatha temple about a free-trade agreement with India post-Brexit.
