Robbers In A Transit Van Lead Police On A Terrifying Chase

Lewis Chalmers, 27,, Patrick Massey, 26, Darren McAndrew, 32, and Joseph Schofield, 20, appeared at Warrington Crown Court on 21 November 2016 to be sentenced. All defendants had pleaded guilty to robbery. Chalmers was given nine years, Massey was given nine years, McAndrew was given eight years and Schofield was given 48 months for their part in the robbery at Moodys Jewellers in Pillory Street, Nantwich. The robbery was reported to police at 11.18am on Wednesday 27 July 2016. Offenders wearing balaclavas had forced a hole in the window and stole a number of watches before making off in a vehicle. Officers attended and carried out a number of enquiries at the scene and a search was made around the area. A car was found in Brine Road in Nantwich which had been set on fire. A high speed pursuit finally resulted in the apprehension of four men who were arrested on suspicion of robbery. At the time, Moodys said on their Facebook page: “Whilst we were safely protected inside the shop by our wonderful security measures, a violent gang of four attacked the windows with various means ranging from a drain grid cover to a Samurai sword."
