Struggling church revives congregation with portable pews

Struggling churches across the UK are flocking to visit a sleepy village whose venue is flourishing after it created PEWS on wheels. The creative congregation has transformed its traditional medieval church into a multi-use venue through an innovative After a packed service at the Grade 1 listed building the pews can be wheeled away to create a large space in the middle of the venue, which is then used for a range of different classes. The idea has been such as a success that several other churches across the country are not considering following suit. Former revered Nicholas "Nic the Vic" Pearkes, came up with the initial idea after visiting another church and helping them install a portable kitchen. "I was visiting another church in Broadhempston and while there I helped making a table into a complete portable kitchen," the 67-year-old said. "I thought pews on wheels would work in this case. "There is a small congregation - around 300 people a month. "It has never been done before."
