80-year-old could be oldest survivor of Down's syndrome

Joe Sanderson could be the world’s oldest living man with Down’s syndrome. Joe turned 80 yesterday and celebrated his incredible milestone with family and staff at Hazelgrove Court Care Home in Saltburn, where he lives. When he was born on St Joseph’s Day, in the seaside resort’s Cleveland Street, doctors told his mother Anna that Joe would not live past 21. Eight decades later he has defied the odds - and probably set a new world record.
