Dr. Linda Papadopoulos explains how to get over the morning slump

Worn-out workers admit they don't feel fully awake until 9:40am on the average weekday, according to a new survey.

Despite setting their alarms for 6:30am and leaving the house by 7:23am, most Brits will be in work for a full 40 minutes before they finally feel able to function.

And while the average worker claims their maximum efficiency kicks in around 11:22am, two thirds reckon they are much more productive in the afternoon.

Indeed, nine out of 10 people questioned in the Quaker Oats study of 2,000 employees admitted they operate on autopilot most mornings and 96 per cent go through exactly the same routine every single day in preparation for work.
