A popstar has become an internet sensation and broken into the top 20 of the UK Charts - by performing across the world from her bedroom.
Emma McGann, 25, started singing in talent shows and open mic nights around 10 years ago in her hometown. But she is now earning £2,000 every month from her work - by performing from her own bedroom in Bedworth, Warks. and performing to thousands of fans on social media performance site YouNow.
The self-employed musician has more than 38,000 fans on the live-streaming site, a further 8,000 followers on Twitter and 4,000 YouTube admirers and, in June, her web following helped her break into the UK top 20 with 'You Mess Me Up'. Miss McGann's fans can buy "bars", an in-app currency, and then tip certain amounts of money to their favourite broadcasters. The currency can then be cashed in for real money by the musicians.
Miss McGann said: "I joined YouNow in October last year. When I heard about the site I thought it could be a good way of raising my profile.
