Mum-of-two Karen Catherall, 45, met Darren Jeffreys, 47, on dating site Plenty of Fish just three weeks before he turned on her.Vile Jeffreys beat and strangled Karen to death in her home in an alcohol-fuelled attack after they returned from the pub, and was jailed for life.But her family have since been told by police that desperate Karen made a 999 call which went through to BT to deal with just after she returned home.The call handler apparently failed to hear arguing in the background - which was later picked up by police - and failed to connect the call to officers or send help. Her distraught mum Glenys Keir, 74, and sister, Lorraine Humphreys, 49, have slammed BT for not taking action at the time which they claim could have saved their sister.
