Mum jailed for 5 months for kids truancy

A mum-of-six who let her kids play truant so they could go to the beach on sunny days said she finally seen the error of her ways after being jailed.
Claudia Ward, 42, was given five months in prison as her relaxed attitude to schooling did not sit well with education chiefs.
She was advocate of flexible-schooling and argued her children would learn more from spending a day on the beach or walking in the woods with their family than sat “bored in a hot and stuffy classroom.”
Despite several warning, she dug her heels in and magistrates were forced to incarcerate her, when she was prosecuted for the fifth time over three of her children playing persistent truants.
