Penzance sea front hit by huge waves on 'Wild Wednesday'

Many thanks to Craig Leathers for this video - Storm-battered Britain was pounded by the biggest waves in the world - as the coastline was smashed with a 40FT wall of water. The huge swell was whipped up by ferocious winds which tore down sea walls, flooded homes and left a railway line suspended in mid-air. Forecasters recorded winds of 92mph off the coast of the Isles of Scilly as Devon and Cornwall bore the brunt of the assault that left seafront streets resembling a "war zone". Waves in Sennen in Cornwall - the UK's most westerly village - reached as high as 40ft, the biggest anywhere in the world.
