Number 5 – The Pink Lake, Senegal\r
Although this incredible natural phenomenon isnt exly strawberry milkshake, it is, however, clearly pink and its name, Lake Rebta translates as “Pink Lake”. You are probably wondering, “Why is the lake pink in colour?” Well, to answer your question, the pink colouring of the water is caused by the algae, Dunaliella salina, which produces a red pigment when exposed to sunlight which provides energy to create ATP. There are many other known examples out there similar to this, such as Lake Hillier in Australia. Lake Rebta is also known for its high salt concentrations which can reach up to 40% in some areas meaning you are able to float easily. Fish in the lake are adapted to the high salt content, however, this comes at a cost as they are approximately four times smaller than the average fish as a result of salt water fish dwarfism.\r

Number 4 – Hidden Beach, Mexico\r
Known as Mexicos “Hidden Beach” or “The Beach of Love”, this amazing popular tourist destination can be located a few miles off the coast of Mexico in the Marieta Islands, an uninhabited archipelago that existed as a result of volcanic eruption. The Hidden Beach itself was created due to the accidental explosion of a bomb that landed during military testing. However, what was left was a beautiful caved beach flourishing with biodiversity and enjoyed by many tourists. The beach is invisible from the outside, hence why it is aptly called the “hidden beach”, and is only accessible by swimming or kayaking through a long water tunnel only when the tide is low.\r

Number 3 – ‘Underwater Waterfall, Mauritius\r
Mauritius is home to white sandy beaches, clear, warm sea waters and lagoons and is a highly attrive destination for those who wish to escape to Eden. One of the awe-inspiring key attrions in Mauritius is the unique underwater waterfall within the ocean. Although it isnt ually an underwater waterfall, sorry to break the news to you, this underwater slope is ually an optical illusion caused by the sediment of sand and silt deposits. The sand and silt sink farther into the sea from one coastal shelf to a much deeper coastal shelf of the southern-most part of Mauritius giving the impression of an underwater waterfall. Aerial shots provide the most visually stimulating appeal and a perception of an underwater vortex. Pretty impressive, right? \r

Located in Chinas Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park, the Rainbow Mountains is a thing of natural wonder. The picturesque and breath-taking landform is as a result of millions of years of red sandstone and mineral deposits, 24 million years in f! The erosion of the reddish sandstone forming unusual rock formations and isolated peaks in conjunction with wind and rain has created a spectacular painting-like landform. Number 1 – Huacachina, Peru\r
Nestled in the middle of one of the most barren places on Earth is the village of Huacachina. The village is built around a small oasis surrounded by sand dunes with lush green palm trees and foliage as well as a lagoon that is said to have healing properties. Legend has it that the lagoon was created when a young native princess was bathing and when apprehended by a hunter she fled and the pool of water became the lagoon. Huacachina is home to only 100 residents and has rustic hotels, shops and even a library! Despite its small population size, tens of thousands of tourists come here to enjoy various ivities ranging from sand boarding to dune buggy rides.\r
