Secretary of State Mike Pompeo ended talks with North Korean officials on Thursday with no announcement that a canceled summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump is back on.
However, Pompeo said, he believes Pyongyang may be on the cusp of a “strategic shift” regarding the abandonment of its nuclear weapons.
“It would be nothing short of tragic to let this opportunity go to waste,” he told reporters.
