Trump Again Lashes Out Over 'Infiltration' Of 'Spies' Into His Campaign
  • 6 years ago
President Trump on Thursday posted another tweet about "spies" in his campaign.

President Trump on Thursday again tweeted about reports of an FBI informant who interacted with some Trump campaign advisers.

"The corrupt Mainstream Media is working overtime not to mention the infiltration of people, Spies (Informants), into my campaign! Surveillance much?" Trump wrote on Twitter.
This is only one of many tweets the president has posted on the matter in the recent past.
"Can anyone even imagine having Spies placed in a competing campaign, by the people and party in absolute power, for the sole purpose of political advantage and gain?" Trump stated in another tweet.
A New York Times piece rebutted Trump's assertion of politically motivated spying, stating, "F.B.I. agents sent an informant to talk to two campaign advisers only after they received evidence that the pair had suspicious contacts linked to Russia during the campaign."
However, the president continues to echo his claim in delivered remarks and tweets.
"A lot of people are saying they had spies in my campaign," Trump told reporters last week. "If they had spies in my campaign, that would be a disgrace to this country. That would be one of the biggest insults that anyone has ever seen, and it would be very illegal, aside from everything else. It would make, probably, every political event ever look like small potatoes."
