Lave From Kilauea Volcano Reaches Geothermal Plant
  • 6 years ago

On Sunday Lava from Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano covered a well at a geothermal power station and threatened another.
The Hawaii Civil Defense Agency said the wells “are stable and secure”.
Authorities have removed 60,000 gallons of flammable liquid, and deactivated wells that tap into the Earth’s core.
Should the wells rupture, locals fear an explosive emission of deadly hydrogen sulfide and other gases.
