Former President Barack Obama marked Memorial Day with a message of appreciation for those who perished while serving the nation.  "We can never truly repay the debt we owe our fallen heroes. But we can remember them, honor their sacrifice, and affirm in our own lives those enduring ideals of justice, equality, and opportunity for which generations of Americans have given that last full measure of devotion," Obama tweeted.
President Trump took to Twitter as well to acknowledge those lost in battle.  "Happy Memorial Day! Those who died for our great country would be very happy and proud at how well our country is doing today," Trump tweeted. "Best economy in decades, lowest unemployment numbers for Blacks and Hispanics EVER (& women in 18years), rebuilding our Military and so much more. Nice!"  Trump also delivered a speech at Arlington National Cemetery. "We're gathered here…to honor the lives and deeds of America's greatest heroes, the men and women who laid down their lives for our freedom. Today, we pay tribute to their service, we mourn alongside their families, and we strive to be worthy of their sacrifice," Trump said.
