With less than three weeks to go until the 2018 World Cup kicks off in Russia,... the South Korean men's national football team will take to the pitch tonight for a friendly match against Honduras.

Won Jung-hwan reports.

South Korea are busy fine-tuning their plans and tactics ahead of the 2018 Russia World Cup, which kicks off on June 14th.
As part of the preparations, the Taeguk Warriors take on Honduras in a friendly match in the southeastern city of Daegu at 8 p.m. Monday.

South Korea, the second-lowest ranked team at the Russian World Cup,… are in Group F with Germany, Sweden and Mexico.
And they'll use Monday's friendly match against Honduras,… to prepare their strategy for their second group match against Mexico on June 23rd.

South Korean head coach Shin Tae-yong said Korea will set up with four defenders for the match.

"We are trying out tactics with the Mexico match in mind"

However it won't be easy to try out new tactics as the national team is struggling with injuries.
And for that reason South Korea will rest key players,... including Ki Sung-yueng and Lee Jae-sung ,... to ensure there aren't any last minute injury headaches.

"We will have to focus on the ability of new and existing players"

Meanwhile, Honduras, who didn't qualify for Russia 2018,… are ranked two spots higher than South Korea in the FIFA rankings,… and even beat Mexico in a World Cup qualification match last year.
Following the Honduras match, South Korea take on Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday as part of their preparations for the World Cup.
