Petting A Sleeping Black Bear

On thisof the Axel Show, Axel and his Daddy are visiting the Smokey Mountain National Park! They are about to go on a hike, when they run into a park ranger who is trying to put a GPS collar on a yearling American Black bear. The Ranger ends up using a tranquilizer gun to sedate the bear, and allows Axel to pet the bear while it is asleep. A UT Graduate was present to take blood samples from the bear, and the GPS collar placed on the bear will help her track its movements. The more the rangers can learn about the bears, the more they can help them to live in harmony with humans. This was an interesting experience for Axel. one that he will not easily forget. \r
