According to a report by Reuters, the United States is heading an initiative with other governments to promote nuclear power and encourage investment in advancing nuclear technologies. On Thursday, US Deputy Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette along with international partners, launched the initiative which aims to "highlight the value of nuclear energy as a clean reliable energy source." Japan, Canada, Russia, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Argentina and Romania have all partnered with the U.S. to push the initiative. Reuters reports that following the devastation of Japan's Fukushima plant in 2011, many national governments have looked to reduce their dependency on nuclear power.
