Top sporting shot George Digweed talks to us as a burglar has been found guilty of of being part of a gang that carried out a violent burglary at Georges home, and a month later the vicious murder of elderly businessman Roy Blackman at his Biddenden home.\r

Mechanic Mark Love, 38, was convicted on both counts.\r

The jury of seven men and five women started deliberations at the end of the trial at Maidstone Crown Court lasting almost three weeks. They entered guilty verdicts to both charges this morning. Love will be sentenced at 2pm today.\r

He appeared in the dock wearing a grey blazer, white shirt and dark blue jumper, flanked by two security guards. He showed no emotion as the guilty verdicts were read out. As he was taken away, Mr Blackmans family members quietly hugged each other as they left the court.\r

The jury heard Mr Blackman, a garage owner and bird breeder, was brutally beaten to death before burglars fled with a safe containing between £100,000 and £250,000.\r

Prosecutor Simon Taylor said the killing was carried out by the same gang that burgled Mr Digweeds home in Northiam, Rye.\r

Mr Blackman was punched, kicked, stamped on and stripped naked at his chalet bungalow in Headcorn Road.\r
