Cry It Out Method - Our experience (First 5 nights)

Cry it out is not for the faint of heart, but its a very effective method and we needed to do it. I chose the Weissbluth extinction method (So this method was designed by a doctor- I didnt make this up!). Zee is 9 months old and was starting to cry MORE in the night. She wanted to he held at 2 - 3 in the morning for nearly an hour! And if you try to hold her while sitting she would cry harder. She wants her adult slaves to stand and bounce! Only standing! Thats crazy. Needed to be stopped. That type of thing should be over by now. So here is our experience. I doubt anyone will agree with me. Angga has expressed to me the Indonesian opinion already. He gave me 2 or 3 days of the cold shoulder and very reluctantly allowed me to continue. But because he was super grumpy and mean anyway from lack of sleep and general exhaustion, I figured I could put up with everyone screaming and crying at me for 4-5 days as long as the following week everyone is happier and healthier and sleeping well. Angga is no longer mad, and Zee no longer does those hour long bouncy standing up for an hour in the middle of the night s. So I am a believer. It works. The scientific studies have been done. This does not have a negative psychological effect on the child (no increase in the childs stress hormone Cortisol the following morning), and children who are trained with this method are better sleepers. They go to sleep faster, and sleep longer and more soundly. Great skill to have. They have the fading method (ferber) and the extinction method. both are said to work effectively, but extinction is said to work faster and I needed it done as fast as possible cuz I had and angry husband who cant stand to hear crying. So if the extinction method results in less overall crying then for me it was a no brainer. Maybe you will think Im mean, but I say Im not. Im like a tukang urut. Itll be painful for a bit but afterwards youll feel better! :-D\r
