Asia's longest bi-directional tunnel inaugurated; Kargil, Srinagar & Leh to be linked

After India’s largest Railway Bridge in Assam, in a major strategic boost to defence logistics, PM Modi has now inaugurated the 6809 crore Zojila tunnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Leh kick-starting, the work for Asia’a longest and strategic bi-directional tunnel. The tunnel will provide all weather connectivity between Srinagar, Kargil and Leh. During the inauguration ceremony PM Modi said that this would help armed forces for round the clock supplies. The pass is strategic for the entire Kargil sector. The project is also expected to increase employment potential for local labourers.
