“A 17-year-old armed with a shotgun and a pistol opened fire at a Houston-area high school Friday, killing 10 people, most of them students, authorities said,” The Associated Press reported.

In the video, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is seen addressing the community in Santa Fe after the shooting on May 18.

“There’s one thing I want Santa Fe as a community and especially the Santa Fe Independent School District to know,” Gov. Abbott says. “And that is I as governor and the state of Texas, we are not here today and gone tomorrow. We’re going to be here every day until we ensure that Santa Fe Independent School District and this school are put back in place and normalcy is returned to schools and safety is returned to your schools.”
