Overtaking on a UK motorway driving lesson .\r
\r
This video will hopefully be useful if youre about to drive on a motorway for the first time and looking for some motorway tips or visiting from another country and plan on driving in the UK. A lot of drivers have never had any motorways driving lessons.\r
\r
You must pass your driving test before driving on a motorway as learner drivers are not allowed. Here is a full list of who MUST NOT use the motorway:\r
Pedestrians\r
Holders of provisional motorcycle or car licences\r
Riders of motorcycles under 50 cc, cyclists\r
Horse riders\r
Certain slow-moving vehicles and those carrying oversized loads (except by special permission)\r
Agricultural vehicles\r
Powered wheelchairs/powered mobility scooters.\r
\r
In this video we have a look at how to overtake safely. Only overtake on a motorway if its safe and legal. Keep a safe distance from the vehicle that you wish to overtake, at least a two second gap in dry conditions. Its important that you can overtake without breaking the speed limit or causing another vehicle to slow down or swerve. Check your mirrors and a check your blind spot before changing lanes. Signal when its safe and then gently steer out to the right. Once youve finished overtaking move back to the left lane when its safe. Check your mirrors, signal but dont cut in front of the other vehicle that youve overtaken. \r
\r
This is just a rough guide to overtaking on a motorway. We strongly recommend taking some motorway driving lessons with a professional driving instructor.\r
