Delhi thunderstorm havoc: Powerful dust storm hits Delhi; over 70 flights diverted

Dust storms and thunderstorms have wreaked havoc in several parts of north India including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi NCR region killing more than 40 people. According to the Indian meteorological department, adverse weather conditions will continue to prevail for the next 48 to 72 hours. While Delhi’s IGI airport has cancelled over 70 flights due to the sudden change in weather, metro services were also disrupted in the capital. Jet airways has issued a statement stating that it has cancelled 8 flights today while Vistara has waived off cancellation fees of its passengers.
