NASA Continues To Release Incredible Cassini Photos
  • 6 years ago

Gizmodo reports that six months after the Cassini probe plummeted to its doom, scientists continue to release incredible images captured from its two-decade long mission to Saturn. The rings of Saturn are only about 30 feet from top to bottom on average, compared to the planet's massive 73,367 mile diameter. According to a NASA fact sheet, the Cassini revealed that each ring contains chunks of ice as small as sand to several kilometers in size. The probe also studied the origin of Saturn’s diffuse outer E ring, which seemed to come from the planet’s moon, Enceladus.
