Solai School Dormitory Flooded With Mud From Patel Dam Failure

Mud and debris flooded the town of Solai and surrounding areas in Kenya’s Nakuru County the evening of Wednesday, May 9, after the nearby Patel Dam failed. Dozens of people and livestock were killed.A press release from the Kenya Red Cross said the official death toll stands at 32 as of approximately 6 pm local time, and is expected to rise as search and rescue operations continue.These videos show a school dormitory and the Solai town center covered in mud, as well as soldiers from Kenya’s armed forces assisting in the search and cleanup efforts.
