Trump Warns Iran Of 'Severe Consequence' If Nuclear Program Is Restarted

President Trump warned Iran it'll face "severe" consequences if it restarts its nuclear program.

President Trump warned Iran against restarting its nuclear program.
Prior to Wednesday's Cabinet meeting, a reporter asked Trump, "What are you going to do if Iran starts up their nuclear program again?"
"Iran will find out," the president responded. "I don't think they should do that. I would advise Iran not to start their nuclear program. I would advise them very strongly. If they do, there will be very severe consequence."
Trump's remarks came a day after his announcement that the U.S. will withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal.
His decision prompted many leaders around the world to issue critical statements.
"France, Germany, and the UK regret the U.S. decision to leave the JCPOA. The nuclear non-proliferation regime is at stake," tweeted French President Emmanuel Macron.
Former President Barack Obama also responded to Trump's announcement.
"There are few issues more important to the security of the United States than the potential spread of nuclear weapons, or the potential for even more destructive war in the Middle East. That's why the United States negotiated the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in the first place," Obama wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
"The JCPOA is in America's interest – it has significantly rolled back Iran's nuclear program," Obama added. "And the JCPOA is a model for what diplomacy can accomplish – its inspections and verification regime is precisely what the United States should be working to put in place with North Korea."
