Dozens of people in bald eagle costumes stormed Washington on May 7 to protest President Donald Trump’s proposal to cut funding to national service organizations, including the elimination of AmeriCorps, the largest such program.Chanting “Let us serve!” the eagles – chosen because bald eagles were near extinction in the 1970s – marched on the National Mall, in front of the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial.
