Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Monday lashed out over a question pertaining to President Trump and cyberbullying.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders lashed out over a question linking President Trump to cyberbullying. Sanders was asked by NBC's Peter Alexander at Monday's press briefing if the president accepts "any responsibility for Americans' skepticism that the first lady from the White House would be speaking out against cyberbullying?" She replied by stating the issue is an important one to first lady Melania Trump and attempted to move along. "The question was about him not about her…does he accept responsibility for this climate that exists right now?" Alexander interrupted. "I think the idea that you're trying to blame cyberbullying on the president is kind of ridiculous," Sanders responded. "When it comes to kids, this is something that has been problematic and something that we have seen over the last decade." The inquiry came on the same day the first lady announced her initiative "Be Best," which will encourage young people to use social media "in positive ways." Considering President Trump often attacks people on Twitter, she has acknowledged the position that taking on cyberbullying puts her in. Melania Trump reportedly said at a March gathering with high-ranking personnel from top tech companies, "I am well aware that people are skeptical of me discussing this topic…But it will not stop me for doing what I know is right. We have to find a better way to talk to each other, to disagree with each other, to respect each other."
