U.S. Justice Department Files Indictment Against Former Volkswagen CEO Winterkorn
  • 6 years ago
On Thursday, the US Justice Department filed criminal charges against former Volkswagen AG CEO Martin Winterkorn, accusing him of conspiring to cover up the company's diesel emissions cheating. The indictment of Winterkorn, who resigned just days after the scandal was revealed to the public in September 2015, is likely to be largely symbolic, as Germany does not extradite its citizens to non-European Union countries.
