Protesters Join May Day Rally in Tokyo Amid Row Over Constitution Proposals
  • 6 years ago

Protesters gathered in Tokyo’s Yoyogi Park for the annual May Day demonstration calling for improved workers’ rights and working conditions. Some protesters simultaneously demanded the resignation of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who has put forward proposals to scrap pacifist clauses in the country’s constitution, Japan Today reported.Critics suggest the proposals, which would make Japan Self-Defense Forces its official military, could lead to a worrying expansion of Japan’s military role.
