Claire Foy to Receive $275,000 in Back Pay for ‘The Crown’ According to The Daily Mail, Foy will receive the money for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II on The Crown. Foy is receiving the money a month after it was revealed that she was paid significantly less than her co-star, Matt Smith, over the first two seasons. Left Bank Productions, who runs the show for Netflix, issued an apology to Foy and Smith after a “media storm” erupted over equal pay between genders. We want to apologize to both Claire Foy and to Matt Smith, brilliant actors and friends, who have found themselves at the center of a media storm this week through no fault of their own. As the producers of The Crown, we at Left Bank Pictures are responsible for budgets and salaries; the actors are not aware of who gets what, and cannot be held personally responsible for the pay of their colleagues. Left Bank has promised that going forward “no one get paid more than the Queen.”
