New York's Ex-Assembly Speaker Silver Faces New Trial Over Corruption Charges

Once again, former NY State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver is to be tried on federal corruption charges.
The trial comes seven months after his earlier conviction and 12-year prison sentence was thrown out.
Silver is accused of funneling state money to a prominent cancer researcher.
In turn, the researcher referred asbestos patients to Silver’s law firm.
Silver was found guilty by a jury in November 2015. He is 74 years old.
