The Volkswagen Golf GTD is VW's economical version of the Golf GTI hot hatchback. It's powered by a 2.0-litre TDI engine with 181bhp and has all the sporty looks of the GTI, but with impressive economy figures in excess of 60mpg. It's available in three and five-door hatchback body styles, as well as the estate we're testing here.
