The singing of the national anthem before the Toronto Maple Leafs took on the Boston Bruins in Game 6 of their playoff series had a special poignancy on April 23, coming as it did hours after a vehicular attack in the city left 10 people dead.Police identified Alek Minassian as the suspected driver of a van that hit pedestrians on Yonge Street, to the north of downtown Toronto. He was arrested a short time after the incident and due to appear in court early on April 24.Before the game, the Leafs’ Ron Hainsey told Sportsnet that he and his teammates were going to “play our hearts out for this city.” And that’s just what they did, winning 3-1 to tie the series and force a seventh game.
