Holiday House Tour & Scenic World Trip Ends With Lights, Sirens, Ambulance For Gypsy

Holiday house tour then trip to Scenic World at Katoomba to see the Blue Mountains the fun way . then Gypsy has an anaphylic reion to accidentally inhaling fly spray (we think), so earns a trip to hospital in an ambulance. Gypsy in hospital again was an unlucky way to end this part of our holiday.\r

Gypsy has had several bouts of anaphylaxis in the past which are lessening in frequency as she gets older. Theres a huge family history of similar allergies, with mum Amy having had many reions during childhood, plus Chad and Jedi having had a couple each. I had my last reion at age 12 and Chad had his at 11 - so were hopeful this will be Gypsys last serious allergic reion too. Weve never been able to confirm the cause of any of our anaphylic events. We all have multiple minor to moderate allergies to most things weve been tested for (dust, insects, wool, grasses, pollens, animals, and most foods - but luckily no medications!) but a single severe trigger has never been identified for any of us. Were told its simply a case of exceeding a threshold of exposure to multiple allergens which sets us off - sigh. Thankfully we live in an age when adrenaline is readily available so the survival rate is extremely high providing its administered very soon after the onset of breathing difficulties.\r

Please note that we filmed with prior permission from NSW Ambulance and Katoomba Hospital well after the point of danger had passed. Medical staff have every right to refuse permission (to prevent footage being used in a civil suit against them). In f Gypsy ended up live streaming on musical.ly with the consent and encouragement of hospital staff, because the best way to return breathing to normal after anaphylaxis is to talk or sing. Gypsys voice initially sounded weird because her vocal cords were swollen - but you could ually hear her voice returning to normal during the course of her live.ly. Well share a bit of that tomorrow.\r

PS: The skyway and cableway at scenic world were fun and nowhere near as scary as youd think for being a few hundred metres above the ground. The scenic railway was also a very entertaining way to see the view of the Blue Mountains. If youre planning a holiday with kids, we definitely recommend spending a half day or day at Scenic World. But any extra time you have will be more fun at Jenolan Caves enjoying the adventure and wildlife.\r
