J&K government shuts coaching centres in state, triggers anger

The Jammu and Kashmir government ordered the coaching centres in the state to remain shut after a meeting of the education minister with the principals of higher secondary schools and education officers found that they were a “distraction”. Education minister Altaf Bukhari said that the attendance in schools was low and the coaching centres were being asked to halt operations for three months to assess if students come to school more regularly then. He said that after three months, the government would take a call on the matter.
