The Long Dark is a survival simulator that drops you into the wilderness of Canada. The weather, wildlife, food, water and even calories spent are things you are going to NEED to keep an eye on if you want to survive more than a few days. The question is, are you prepared?

After being in Early Access for a while, man-vs-nature survival game The Long Dark will be getting a full release on August 1 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.

Hinterland Studio announced the news on the PlayStation Blog, revealing that, alongside the game's Survivor Mode, The Long Dark will also release with the first two episodes of its five-episode narrative mode Wintermute — "Do Not Go Gentle" and "Luminance Fugue." The studio is looking to release the next three episodes between 2017 and 2018. Pricing has yet to be announced.

In Survivor Mode, players are tasked with surviving for as long as they can while trying to manage resources such as food and clothing in the large open world. Wintermute, on the other hand, has players assume the role of pilot Will Mackenzie and Dr. Astrid Greenwood, who crash in the Canadian wilderness after a geomagnetic disaster. The story is said to be inspired by Cormac McCarthy's post-apocalyptic novel The Road.

Story Mode has just been released today "August 1st, 2017" so some bugs will apply. Hotfixes are on the way.
