Barack Obama Pens Tribute to Parkland Survivors for ‘Time 100’ The profile honors Jaclyn Corin, Emma Gonzalez, David Hogg, Cameron Kasky, and Alex Wind, five of the students who made it onto Time’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world. Our history is defined by the youthful push to make America more just, more compassionate, more equal under the law. This generation—of Parkland, of Dreamers, of Black Lives Matter—embraces that duty. ...by bearing witness to carnage, by asking tough questions and demanding real answers, the Parkland students are shaking us out of our complacency. This isn’t the first time that Obama has praised Parkland students. Following the shooting, the former president and his wife, Michelle Obama, sent the teens a handwritten letter of support. We wanted to let you know how inspired we have been by the resilience, resolve and solidarity that you have all shown in the wake of unspeakable tragedy. Not only have you supported and comforted each other, but you’ve helped awaken the conscience of the nation… ...and challenged decision-makers to make the safety of our children the country’s top priority.
