This is the moment hundreds of football fans in Indonesia invade the pitch after the referee reportedly made a decision that angered home fans.

Footage captured on April 15 from the Kanjuruhan stadium in Malang appears to show fans from home team Arema surging onto the pitch towards the end of the match with Persib Bandung.

The referee had reportedly sent off an Arema player during injury time while the score was 2-2.

The irate supporters threw chairs and yelled as stadium security struggled to contain the crowd.

What appears to be tear gas canisters were deployed on the pitch in an attempt to disperse the crowd.

Dozens of fans were taken to hospital due to the effects of the tear gas, according to local media.
